The Marines’ Hymn
"From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.
Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.
Here’s health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we’ve fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines"

Events

Our Detachment has numerous social events coming up in the future. One of those will be a "shooting party" in which members are invited to bring their own weapons for shooting on a range. We also have pot luck dinners from time to time and picnics to bring members together. There are some plans being made for a flea market sale in the future too.

Members meet socially, at least once a month beyond the normal meeting dates, usually by having a breakfast together at a local restaurant. We are always open to a member suggesting a new restaurant to meet at, or even a different type of event to take part in outside the Detachment home. A this time, we normally meet at a restaurant called "SUSIE"S AGAIN", at 5382 Spring Hill Drive, which is in a small shopping center just down from US 19. We always welcome our regular membership as well as any prospective members to come down and share some food and laughs with at breakfast Please come and meet and relax with your fellow Marines and FMF Corpsmen friends.

We do a lot of volunteer work in the Detachment, including working with the James A Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, and working with our Honor Guard in everything from funerals to Color Guards for events. If you are interested in helping out with any of this type of volunteer work, please contact either Barbara Sulfridge or Susan McQuiston for more information.
