The Marines’ Hymn
"From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.
Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.
Here’s health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we’ve fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines"

DEVIL DOG’S CREED

By DD George E. Williams, August 1989

I am an American, I was born in France. I have held the title of United States Marine, and understand the commitment of holding the title, Devil Dog. It is a tradition born at Belleau Wood in the year 1918, of a force in readiness and the “First to Fight.” As a Devil Dog, I ask no quarter and give no quarter. I will do everything in my power to uphold the objectives of the Military Order of Devil Dogs and to carry out my duties to a swift and satisfactory completion.

Military order of Devil Dogs

We are the Fun and Honor Society of the Marine Corps League.

Unlike some other organizations, all members of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs are created equal. Only Regulars members in good standing in the Marine Corps League, with one continuous year may be “asked” to apply for membership. The success of the Pound is up to its membership and especially up to its leadership.

Pound # 058 was presented it's charter at the Grand Growl in Fl. Lauderdale this year in a special ceremony. Pound Officers were also installed at the Growl. "Plank" members, or original members of the Pound may sign the charter up to one year after the charter was presented, before the charter is closed for signitures. We are very proud of our small bur growing membership and those that have made that special time available to begin this great new adventure. We especially want to thank the membershp of Detachment 1002 for providing us a home to lay our heads in and food for our souls. The current and future Dogs of Pound # 058 salute you.

If you have been a Regular Member of the Marine Corps League for a minimum of one year with any Detachment and are up to date with your dues, you are welcome to contact any of the officers of the Pound for an application to become a new member of the Pound. If you wish, you may call Pound Keeper Skip Sponheim at (352) 596-5668 for more information.

Membership fees are $25.00 per year, payable upon initiation, and the first of the year, each year thereafter. We have Growls once a quarter, and plan on having mini-growls inbetween regular Pound Growls.

Our pupose is to raise money for good causes and support our members and their famillys while have a good laugh at the same time. Devil Dogs do love to "howl at the mooon". Members of the Marine Corps League recognize members of the Devil Dogs as being the elite of the elite, and we are all proud to carry that title.
